How Specialized Property Management in Atlanta Gives Back
At Specialized Property Management Atlanta, we are in the business of making your rental house into a home. We know that feeling at home starts with building a community that cares for each other and builds up each other. Our staff is personally committed to fostering community and inclusiveness, and we are always looking for ways to do so. That is why we are proud to support the National Ability Center and their efforts to make outdoor recreation available to everyone.
The National Ability Center
The National Ability Center’s mission is to make sure everyone has access to the fun and adventure of outdoor recreation, regardless of their abilities. Their inclusive programs include something for every skill level, whether you are a professional athlete or just want to have fun outdoors. They use specialized equipment, techniques, and teaching to aid their efforts. With over 1,900 volunteers they recognize the value of community effort. As part of their mission, they encourage family members to join in the fun too. This organization relies on the donations of time and money from partners around the country. Specialized Property Management Atlanta is not only the best property management in Atlanta, but we are also proud partners with The National Ability Center.
The National Ability Center’s Programming
Adventure for All
Individuals of all ages and skill levels can participate in the National Ability Center’s adaptive recreation programs. Activities that are available include: aquatics, archery, cycling, challenge course, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, sled hockey, snowshoeing, paddle sports, and water sports. These activities are typically limited by an individual’s ability levels, and not accessible to those with disabilities. But, with the adaptive equipment and techniques the National Ability Center makes sure everyone can be included. Learn more about adaptive recreation by visiting the National Ability Center’s website.
Splore Outdoor Adventures
Those with a more adventurous spirit can participate in the National Ability Center’s Splore Outdoor Adventures. Splore Outdoor Adventures are longer excursions, even overnight in some cases. Adventures include camping, backpacking, rafting, mountain biking, and fat-tire biking. These activities are only possible through the hard-earned experience of those at the National Ability Center. The National Ability Center relies on the help of companies like Specialized Property Management in Atlanta to further its mission and make every outdoor activity accessible. Read about all of the Splore Outdoor Adventures on this page.
The National Ability Center uses horses in four equestrian-assisted activities (EAAT). Adaptive horseback riding, trail riding, equine-assisted learning (EAL), and hippotherapy are all offered at the National Ability Center’s PATH International Premiere Center. Each participant is paired with a horse, an instructor, and volunteers. Equestrian programs are used in many therapeutic applications from occupational and speech therapy to PTSD. Learn more about the equestrian programs by visiting this page.
Creating Space for all Through Community Programs and Camps
As part of its goal to promote fun for all, the National Ability Center hosts community events and camps. Events such as the Spring Formal and Halloween Party foster community, build friendships and teach life skills. Camp programs are offered year-round and designed specifically for differing abilities. Campers are able to experience new recreational activities and develop lifelong friendships at the National Ability Center. Athletic Training and Competition with the National Ability Center
At Specialized Property Management in Atlanta, we know how important it is to follow your dreams, despite any obstacles in your way. Athletes with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities are able to train at the National Ability Center for competitions such as the Special Olympics and Paralympics. The National Ability Center supports several teams of athletes, helping them hone their skills for local, national, and global competition. The athletes train for skiing and snowboarding in Park City, Utah. To see a roster of the athletes that currently train with the National Ability Center visit this page.
Adapting with Help from the National Ability Center
For adults and children alike, it can be difficult to adapt to life with a disability. Those participating in programs at the National Ability Center notice a difference. Instead of being held back by their disabilities, they are challenged to succeed using their abilities. Program participants are given the chance to look around and see others who struggle and succeed in the same way they do. In the video below, you will learn how two brothers use the programs at the National Ability Center to build their self-esteem. They are able to look around and see others with a disability saying “I can” instead of “I can’t.” Their parents share how these programs have changed not only their children’s lives, but their whole family.
The National Ability Center Military Programs
One way we strive to provide the best property management in Atlanta is by supporting those who give their lives for our nation. The National Ability Center shares this goal, and provides specialized programming to service members, veterans, and their families. Members of the Armed Forces are welcome to participate in any programs offered by the National Ability Center at no cost, and their families are able to request scholarships to join in. These programs allow service members to access recreational and therapeutic activities no matter their ability level. Programs that are specialized for warriors include camps, expeditions, military family retreats, and military family days (MFD’s). All of these specialized programs are offered in addition to the regular activities available at the National Ability Center.
